These fairy panels are exquisite and quite unique. They were inspired by the artwork of Cicely Mary Barker and her art noveau collections in the early 1920’s. Her work was licensed to Michael Miller Fabrics by her estate. Her flowers were always botanically correct and she used real life models for her fairies. The feeling of each is so distinctive and captures the innocence of the fairies. I used the Michael Miller panels flower fairies, hawthorne fairies and Christmas fairies.
The outer borders were chosen from a stash of hundreds of fabrics to bring out the colors and feeling of each individual panel. Fabrics were “auditioned” until just the right combination was found.
This series is one of my favorites ever because I got to spend time with each fairy as I was making it !
