This potholder uses the beautiful Hoffman Challenge 2008 fabric as the focus. This is “Empress garden” in green tea/ gold peacock and peony. The pattern repeat is exquisite and the composition of the ornate peacock feathers and tail among the opened peony blooms and japanese maple branches is exceptional, print quality is A plus. There is a light touch of gold edging throughout.
The shades of aqua blue, plum blossoms, and spring leaves on gnarled branches are reminescent of the Zen landscape calligraphy paintings.
There is stitching to follow the outline of the lotus to provide depth.
This is a smaller version with a different view of the same fabric as the lotus and peacock potholder.
Would be nice as a set
