Joie de Vivre is the name of a fabric line designed by Luana Rubin and Robert Kaufman to benefit breast cancer research. It is French for joy of life. It was made for the life love hope quilt challenge contest by Bernina. When I found this fabric I loved it and then when I found out why it was made it became even more special. The repeat center design is especially beautiful. This fabric is no longer available and I have used up what I have. When I first found this, a treasured friend was diagnosed with breast cancer and I made her a quilt using it as a focus farbic. She still curls up with it.
These quilts accentuate the green. There are 8 blocks with a center mandala kalaidescope. They are bordered by 7 different green prints to bring out the colors of the center. All are nature prints of grasses, leves and foliage to give a soothing effect. The fabric that grounds the quilt is a very rich, soft forest green flannel in the tokoyo line by Red Rooster. There is an especially soft backing of ” marbles cotton cream” by Moda.
Super soft. Made with thoughts for healing.
